OUR MISSION: The National Weed Legalization Fund was established by an Army veteran as a non-profit group dedicated to spreading the message of the countless health benefits of medical-marijuana. The ultimate goal is to see marijuana, the “Wonder Weed”, regulated and taxed Nationally and treated fairly and equally along with alcohol and tobacco.
THIS WEEK IN MARIJUANA:
THE BEST SOLUTION TO OBAMA’S LEGACY PROBLEM
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT
Dear President Obama:
The 2016 election is approaching rapidly. Heaven help any 2016 presidential candidate who comes out for stricter marijuana enforcement! Even standing for the status quo could be catastrophic, as would be simply ignoring the public outcry for Federal legalization.
Be it a Republican or Democrat (are you listening Hillary?) if you run on a platform of decriminalizing and full Federal legalization, young voters nationwide, and many older ones too, who would never otherwise show up at the polls will flock to that candidate in droves and insure a solid victory!
But why wait for 2016, Mr. President? Let it be YOUR legacy alone! A stroke of your pen could seal the deal. Leave Fast & Furious and the IRA and VA scandals and Affordable Health Care woes in the dust. They can become fast-faded memories. Legal marijuana can be a trillion dollar TAXABLE INDUSTRY, far surpassing conventional tobacco and rivaling Big Pharma and Big Oil.
And the savings throughout the legal system, judicial, police and incarceration costs, together with the huge new tax revenue, would boost the economy, reduce the National Debt, and create many millions of new jobs. The plus side of the economic equation is enormous.
The stigma attached to marijuana busts and the resulting devastation of life-ruining arrest records, disproportionately among inner city citizens, all can disappear in a flash. Mr. President, your legacy as a liberator of all oppressed minority classes will be remembered much as Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King are remembered.
Have we as a Nation learned nothing from the horrors of the thirteen-year alcohol Prohibition Era? To date, apparently so. Compared to alcohol consumption, which has been 100% legal since late in 1933, endless studies have shown that in comparison with alcohol marijuana’s potential for harm is quite minimal.
It is morally corrupt to NOT arrest those who sell and use alcohol and tobacco while labeling as criminals those who sell and use the far less harmful marijuana.
Mr. President, hear the plea of the people! Make it happen, the sooner the better. Your golden legacy can be eternal!
GOD bless you sir, and GOD bless America.

ANOTHER ARGUMENT FOR LEGALIZATION OF WEED:
It is sad but true that a criminal record virtually never goes away. It is in the public record forever. In this computer age it is very simple for anyone to learn about an individual’s past indiscretions. Websites such as InstantCheckmate legally make such information readily available. It is also sad but true that many, if not most, employers will hesitate to hire anyone with a criminal record or any sort. Possession and/or sale of marijuana is one such “crime”. Decriminalization of weed would open many doors of employment opportunity to many inner-city youths who presently are virtually unemployable because of their arrests for using or selling an herbal medicine.
A WONDER WEED FACTOID:
The ancient Chinese called marijuana “ma”. Around the year 200 C.E., about eighteen-hundred years ago (!), HuaTo, a Chinese surgeon, developed an anesthesia based on marijuana. He created “ma-yo”, a mixture of cannabis resin and rice wine for use by his patients during surgery. It is recorded that he performed grafts, intestinal resections, and chest incisions while his patients were under the influence of ma-yo.
